Purpose-China’s agricultural product exporting to the member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) appeared the trends of faster increase. In order to further enhance the agricultural trade and cooperation, this paper will verify the increasing factors of China’s agricultural products exporting to the SCO member countries. Design/Methodology/Approach-The Constant Market share Model (CMS) with two-level decomposition is used to identify different factors, among which the increase effect is the main increase factor, and then the covering increase factors are summarized. Findings-The increase factors of China’s agricultural products exporting to SCO the Member Countries were appeared in different types, however, to some extent the constraining effects are highly similar. Originality/Value-This study is the first to carry out the analysis on the increase factor in the case of China’s agricultural products exporting to the SCO member countries. Key words: China; Agricultural products; Shanghai cooperation organization; Increasing facto

Integrating On-chain and Off-chain Governance for Supply Chain Transparency and Integrity

Integrating on-chain and off-chain data storage for decentralised and distributed information systems, such as blockchain, presents specific challenges for providing transparency of data governance and ensuring data integrity through stakeholder engagement. Current research on blockchain-based supply chains focuses on using on-chain governance rules developed for cryptocurrency blockchains to store some critical data points without designing tailored on-chain governance mechanisms and disclosing off-chain decision-making processes on data governance. In response to this research gap, this paper presents an integrated data governance framework that coordinates supply chain stakeholders with inter-linked on-chain and off-chain governance to disclose on-chain and off-chain rules and decision-making processes for supply chain transparency and integrity. We present a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) of our integrated data governance approach and suggest future research to strengthen scaling up and supply chain-based use cases based on our learnings.Comment: The 5th Symposium on Distributed Ledger Technolog

Optimal Analysis of Tunnel Construction Methods through Cross Passage from Subway Shaft

The conversion section of the cross passage and shaft is a priority concern in the stress transformation of a tunnel structure during subway underground excavation. In the construction of Subway Line 5 in Xi'an, China, the main line in the loess layer was constructed through the cross passage from the subway shaft of the Yue Deng Pavilion–San Dian Village Station tunnel section. Numerical simulation and field measurement were adopted to study the construction stability of the cross passage and shaft under two possible construction methods: the “shaft followed by cross passage construction” method and the “cross passage parallel shaft construction” method. The results showed that the surface deformation and plastic zone of the surrounding rock are similar under the two construction methods. However, of the two, the “cross passage parallel shaft construction” method was more advantageous in controlling the structural deformation of the original shaft and the stress distribution of the horsehead structure. The field monitoring data showed that the surface settlements and the deformation of the original shaft structures meet the requirement of control standards under the “cross passage parallel shaft construction” method

Fully traceable bio-farming for sustainability transition – Applying blockchain technology to verifiable and complete communication of bio-farming throughout the product life cycle

    No full text
Globally the emerging bio economy has seen an increasing trend towards bio-farming, but farmers remain slow to turn to bio-farming practices due to several challenges, albeit with a positive attitude about bio-farming. This raises the question of how to persuade farmers to use biological inputs and to be included in the emerging bio economy for value creation and sustainability transition. This study developed an actionable framework for traceable, verifiable, and complete communication of bio-farming practices to consumers who are increasingly wanting to make eco-friendly consumption choices. Blockchain solution was introduced to conveys how bio-farming is more sustainable and informs consumers of sustainable product choices in a trustworthy manner. The full traceability of bio-farming food products and verifiable and complete communication help establish trust and create a value loop between farmers and consumer communities and increase sales and profitability for bio-farmers, which can further promote the mass adoption of bio-farming among farmers and progress the sustainability transition

How Can The Indigenous Bushfood Industry Benefit From Distributed Ledger Technology? – Emerging Application Potentials and Considerations

    No full text
Emerging distributed ledger technologies (DLTs), including blockchain, have found increasing applications across various industries over the last decade. Prior studies have highlighted numerous opportunities for embracing DLTs across industries and explored their potentials to optimise and even transform industries. This study explores in which ways the indigenous bushfood industry – a niche but an expanding industry – with national and international interest – can benefit from emerging DLTs. Emerging application potentials include the use of DLTs as (a) an institutional infrastructure for the protection of indigenous bush food IP and cultural knowledge; (b) a governance mechanism to ensure flow-on benefits of greater indigenous business ownership; (c) a virtual intermediary to connect indigenous producers with customers; (d) a shared communication solution for supply chain transparency and collaboration; (e) a community-based database for bushfood bush plans and nutrition facts; (f) a storyteller for the provenance of bushfood that contains native ingredients and (g) an open infrastructure for indigenous bushfood business innovation. Moving forward from application areas, considerations about selecting fit-for-purpose DLTs for specific contexts are discussed to offer a strategic thinking in the adoption of DLTs within the indigenous bushfood industry

Exploring blockchain-based Traceability for Food Supply Chain Sustainability: Towards a Better Way of Sustainability Communication with Consumers

    No full text
While there is consensus that blockchain technology can improve supply chain transparency and operational efficiency, scholars and practitioners have only recently considered how blockchain could improve the sustainability of supply chains. This article contributes to this emerging body of work by considering how to use blockchain to enable sustainable food supply chains. To advance the use of blockchain for sustainability in the food supply chain context, this study proposes a blockchain-enabled architectural framework for trustworthy communication about the sustainability attributes of food products. The blockchain-enabled architectural framework outlines a multi-layered architecture for utilising blockchain-based traceability as a way to signal to consumers the trustworthy sustainability attributes of a particular food product. This kind of sustainability communication enables the accessibility of traceable and verifiable evidence and therefore can significantly enhance the reliability and trustworthiness of sustainable claims/credentials compared to printed food labels or other digital means of communication. The study contributes to sustainability communication empowered by blockchain-based traceability and offers invaluable insights to both researchers and practitioners in the industry 4.0 landscape
